About Judy
Judy Kearns has been a valued member of the Brookewood faculty since the school's inception in 2006. Holding a BFA in fine art from Trinity University and a teaching certification, Judy is deeply committed to art education. Her artistic journey has been enriched by the guidance of master artists such as Robert Liberace, renowned for classical figurative and portrait art as well as sculpture, and Walt Bartman Senior, a prominent colorist painter who founded the Yellow Barn.'
Judy's artistic passion centers on creating portraits and plein air paintings. With experience teaching art to individuals spanning ages 2 to 80, she currently focuses on 2nd through 8th-grade students and leads independent art courses at the high school level. Judy's teaching philosophy emphasizes a classical atelier approach, particularly benefiting advanced students.
What drew Judy to Brookewood was the school's profound appreciation for beauty, a value instilled by Joe McPherson, the founding headmaster. Judy finds immense joy in nurturing the growth of young women within the Brookewood community, watching them contribute to the world by creating beauty and experiencing joy.
